Day 01: Arrival in Beijing
Upon arrival at Beijing, the capital of China, your personal guide will meet you at the airport and escort you to your hotel. You will be free in the rest of day.
Day 02: Beijing (B, L)
Historic Beijing has long been China's political and cultural center. On this day we will escort you to explore some of Beijing's greatest sights. Your first stop will be to Tiananmen Square, where in 1949, Chairman Mao declared the founding of People's Republic of China before 3 million onlookers. Next, stroll through the magnificent Forbidden City, the largest integral imperial palace in the world with a history of over 600 years. In the afternoon, you will marvel at another of Beijing's landmarks - the splendid Temple of Heaven built in 15th century.
Day 03: Beijing (B, L)
A full-day excursion will take you to the majestic Badaling Great Wall, which was built over 2,000 years ago and stretches over 6,400 kilometers. You will have plenty of time to linger at this world wonder and contemplate how ancient Chinese people built the wall by using only manpower and rudimentary tools. Before returning to the city, you will visit the famous Sacred Road.
Day 04: Beijing (B, L)
You will visit the exquisite Summer Palace, the most splendid imperial garden in China and the narrow alleys and courtyard homes of Beijing's Hutong by rickshaw. Have a good rest for the next day’s Lhasa trip.
Day 05: Beijing - Lhasa (B, L)
Take a morning flight to Lhasa, nicknamed the "Sunlight City" with an elevation of 3650 meters (12,000 feet) above the sea level. Upon arrival at Gonggar airport, you will be met by your local guide and transferred to your hotel in Lhasa city. After checking in your hotel, rest a while to help you acclimatize the high altitude.
Day 06: Lhasa (B, L)
This will be a day of extraordinary experiences. You will get to experience more of the unique atmosphere of this holy land. Your visits today will include the Lhasa's cardinal landmark, the Potala Palace, the former winter residence of Dalai Lamas, and next we will bring you to the Norbulingka Park built in 1751 AD as a summer palace for the Dalai Lama.
Day 07: Lhasa (B, L)
On this day you will have another chance to absorb the unique atmosphere of Tibet. Pay a visit to the revered 7th century Jokhang Temple. Later, you will have chance to walk around the flourishing Barkhor Street, where you can enjoy bargaining with the local Tibetan vendors for the handicrafts. Then move on to visit the Drepung Monastery, the largest monastery of Gelug Sect in Tibet. You will then visit the Sera Monastery that houses three colleges built in the 15th and 16th centuries, and is famous for its "Buddhism Sutra Debates".
Day 08: Lhasa –Gyangtse (B, L)
Drive to Gyangtse. On the way visit the Yamdrok Lake. Upon arrival in Gyangtse, visit the Palcho Monastery and the Kumbum Pagoda which is 9-storey, contains 10,000 Buddhas. Step out of Palcho Monastery, you can see the real life of local residents along the Gyangtse Old Street. Stay overnight at the hotel in Gyangtse.
Day 09: Gyantse – Shigatse (B, L)
Drive to Shigatse. Painted in red and white, the buildings in the Tashilunpo Monastery stand closely together in terraced rows, offering a grand and majestic view. Next, visit the Summer Palace built for the 10th Panchan, the Palace of Panchen Lama. Stay overnight at the hotel in Shigatse.
Day 10: Shigatse - Dingri (B, L)
Drive from Shigatse to Dingri. Visit the historical, cultural and political center of Tibet,
the Sakya Monastery and the Lhatse City. Stay overnight at the hotel in Dingri.
Day 11: Dingri - Everest Base Camp – Dingri (B, L)
Drive from Dingri to the Everest Base Camp. Visit the Rongbuk Monastery, the best place to view the Everest. Drive back to Dingri.
Day 12: Dingri - Shigatse (B, L)
Drive back to Shigatse and overnight at the hotel in Shigatse.
Notes: Considering your physical energy in the high latitude area, we specially arrange you to stop at Shigatse for one night. If you think you are energic enough, you can also have a long journey (about 8 hours’ car ride) from Dingri to Lhasa via Shigatse in a day to save the cost.
Day 13: Shigatse - Lhasa (B, L)
Drive back to Lhasa and be transferred to the hotel.
Day 14: Lhasa - Shanghai (B, L)
Have a family visit before you fly to Shanghai, one of the greatest seaports in the world.
Day 15: Shanghai (B, L)
On this day, you will visit People Square, the center of culture and beautification of Shanghai city. Shanghai Museum has a rich collection of over 120,000 pieces of bronzes, paintings, etc.. After that, move on to the Jade Buddha Temple, a spiritual oasis of metropolitan residents. Visit the Yuyuan Garden and taste the Shanghai people’s local life at the Yuyuan Market. Later you will visit the Shanghai World Financial Center where you will take the elevator to its 100th floor to enjoy the bird's eye view of Shanghai.
Day 16: Departure from Shanghai (B)
Take a stroll on museum of buildings, the Bund and touch the updated fashion on Nanjing Road before you are escorted to the airport/railway station to your next destination.
