Day 01: Arrival in Beijing
Upon arrival at Beijing, the capital of China, your personal guide will meet you at the airport and escort you to your hotel. You will be free in the rest of day.
Day 02: Beijing (B, L)
Historic Beijing has long been China's political and cultural center. On this day we will escort you to explore some of Beijing's greatest sights. Your first stop will be to Tiananmen Square, where in 1949, Chairman Mao declared the founding of People's Republic of China before 3 million onlookers. Next, stroll through the magnificent Forbidden City, the largest integral imperial palace in the world with a history of over 600 years. In the afternoon, you will marvel at another of Beijing's landmarks - the splendid Temple of Heaven built in 15th century.
Day 03: Beijing (B, L)
A full-day excursion will take you to the majestic Badaling Great Wall, which was built over 2,000 years ago and stretches over 6,400 kilometers. You will have plenty of time to linger at this world wonder and contemplate how ancient Chinese people built the wall by using only manpower and rudimentary tools. Before returning to the city, you will visit the famous Sacred Road.
Day 04: Beijing - Datong (B, L)
After breakfast, you will visit the exquisite Summer Palace, the most splendid imperial garden in China. Take a train to Datong and transfer to the hotel.
Day 05: Datong (B, L)
Visit the largest screen in China, the Nine Dragon Screen served as a barrier by keeping passers-by from peeping into the house and making visitors tidy themselves before meeting their hosts and the splendid Chinese sculptures and ancient Buddhist art in the Yungang Grottoes.
Day 06: Datong - Taiyuan(B, L)
In the morning, drive to Hunyuan County to visit the most spectacular Hanging Temple which clings precariously to the side of the Mt. Hengshan range and is an immortal masterpiece of ancient architecture. And then drive to Yingxian County to see the Wooden Pagoda that is regarded as the "First Pagoda in the World" and a gem in the architectural field. Continue your journey to Taiyuan. Stay overnight at Taiyuan
Day 07: Taiyuan – Pingyao (B, L)
Visit the Jinci Temple with lots of halls, terraces, pavilions, corridors and bridges inside the temple, especially with the streams running through the complex, and the symbol of Taiyuan City, the Twin Pagoda Temple. Then drive to Pingyao (2-hour drive), en route pay a visit to Qiao Family's Compound. This well-preserved and exquisite structure used to be the residence of a powerful trading family with significant commercial influence even beyond Shanxi Province. Stay overnight at Pingyao.
Day 08: Pingyao - Xian (B, L)
Today, enjoy your tour in Pingyao Ancient Town including the visit to the Ancient City Wall, Rishengchang Exchange Shop which is China’s first bank and was originally established in 1823 and Ming and Qing Street. Take an overnight soft sleeper train to Xian.
Notes: To be more comfortable, we can also transfer you to Taiyuan from Pingyao to catch a flight to Xian upon your request.
Day 09: Xian (B, L, D)
Arrive in Xian in the morning. After breakfast, you will visit the incredible life-size Terracotta Warriors in the morning. After lunch, you will visit the symbol of the city, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda that was built in 652 A.D in Tang Dynasty to house the sutras brought back from India by the famous monk Xuan-zang. Your exciting day will conclude with a savory Dumpling Dinner and the colorful Tang Dynasty Show.
Day 10: Xian - Luoyang (B, L)
Visit the City Wall built during the 14th century on Tang dynasty foundations, date to the Ming Dynasty, the walls are the largest and best-preserved ancient fortress in the world. Next visit the Bell Tower. Along the Bell Tower Square, you can go to the Hui Minority’s Street to taste the genuine local snacks. Take a soft seat train to Luoyang. Your personal guide will meet you and escort you to your hotel.
Day 11: Luoyang – Zhengzhou - Shanghai (B, L)
Visit the Longmen Grottoes, one of the three Buddhist grotto treasure houses in China. The carving work at Longmen began around AD 493 and the construction on caves had been carried on for over 400 years from then on. Then head for Dengfen Town to visit Shaolin Temple, enjoy its Forest of Dagobas and the stunning Shaolin Kungfu Performance. After the tour, move on to Zhengzhou to board your flight to Shanghai. Upon arrival in Shanghai, China's most cosmopolitan city, your personal guide will meet you and escort you to your hotel.
Day 12: Shanghai (B, L)
On this day, you will visit People Square, the center of culture and beautification of Shanghai city. Shanghai Museum has a rich collection of over 120,000 pieces of bronzes, paintings, etc. After that, move on to the Jade Buddha Temple, a spiritual oasis of metropolitan residents. Visit the Yuyuan Garden and taste the Shanghai people’s local life at the Yuyuan Market. Later you will visit the Shanghai World Financial Center where you will take the elevator to its 100th floor to enjoy the bird's eye view of Shanghai.
Day 13: Departure from Shanghai (B)
Take a stroll on museum of buildings, the Bund and touch the updated fashion on Nanjing Road. You will be escorted to the airport to your next destination.
