Sakkara Necropolis

Located outside of Cairo, the Sakkara Necropolis is the home to Egypt's first Pyramid and many other archaeological treasures. The unique architectural style of the Sakkara Necropolis was built to imitate previous architectural materials. The pillars, walls and roofs were carved to appear as though they were made of wood and reeds. It is a unique architectural style that adds a surprising beauty to the necropolis.

Step Pyramid

Located in the Sakkara Necropolis, the Step Pyramid was built for the Pharaoh Djoser, by his Vizier Imhotep. The first Egyptian pyramid ever built, it was originally 62 meters high and was covered in polished white limestone. The pyramid is considered to be the world's earliest large scale stone construction. The buildings in the pyramid complex were designed to appear as though they were made of wood, reeds, or mud bricks.
