There are several main cities along the Yangtze River Cruise, namely, Chongqing, Yichang and Wuhan, their climate is slightly different:

Chongqing: surrounded by waters on three sides and by mountains on four sides, Chongqing has sub-tropical humid monsoon climate with abundant rainfall and many cloudy days, the city is often enveloped by heavy fog, especially in summer and autumn, hence the name the "Capital of Fog."  Chongqing is warm in winter and hot in summer, the annual average temperature is 18 ℃ with the lowest temperature around 6℃ and the highest 38℃. In summer, extreme temperatures can reach to 43.8℃. Therefore the best time to visit Chongqing is in spring and winter.

Yichang:Yichang has a subtropical monsoon climate with abundant rainfall in spring and summer. The city enjoys four clear seasons with cloudy and sunny springs, hot and humid summers, fine and pleasant autumns and dry winters. It is warm and humid in August in Yichang, with an average temperature of around 27.6 ℃ to 32.6 ℃.

Wuhan: Wuhan has a subtropical monsoon climate with abundant rainfall and four distinct seasons: Winter (November to February), Spring (March to May), Summer (June to August) and Autumn (September to early November). The average annual rainfall is 1269mm, mainly from June to August; and the annual temperature is 15.8℃ to 17.5℃. Summer in Wuhan is well-known for its heat and high humidity and temperatures can reach up to 45 ℃ (113 F), thus Wuhan, together with Chongqing and Nanjing, are known as the three furnaces of China due to their extreme summer heat. The best time to visit Wuhan is March to June and September to November.
